πŸ‡²πŸ‡¦ Morocco in 5 days – the ultimate itinerary

Morocco is a fantastic destination for a 5-day holiday! πŸ‡²πŸ‡¦ You can experience colourful markets, beautiful palaces, desert adventures, traditional Moroccan food, rooftop restaurants and stunning architecture. For five days, I would recommend Marrakech as your main base, with a day trip to the Atlas Mountains or the Agafay Desert. Here is the itinerary I would suggest to make the most of your time.

Day 1 – Discover Marrakech

Explore the historic heart of Marrakech.

Things to do:

  • Visit Jemaa el-Fnaa – the famous main square, full of street performers, food stalls and atmosphere.

  • Explore the traditional souks and shop for leather bags, spices, lamps and handmade souvenirs.

  • Visit Bahia Palace – beautiful Moroccan architecture and gardens.

  • See Koutoubia Mosque from its surrounding gardens.

  • Enjoy dinner on a rooftop overlooking the Medina.

Evening: Try a traditional Moroccan tagine or couscous.

Day 2 – Gardens, palaces and Moroccan experiences

Things to do:

  • Visit Jardin Majorelle – one of Morocco's most beautiful gardens.

  • Explore the Yves Saint Laurent Museum.

  • Experience a traditional Moroccan hammam and spa.

  • Take a Moroccan cooking class.

  • Spend the evening enjoying a rooftop restaurant.

My recommendation: Book the Majorelle Garden in advance, as it is very popular.

Day 3 – Agafay Desert adventure

One of the highlights of your trip!

The Agafay Desert is around 45–60 minutes from Marrakech.

Activities:

  • Camel riding.

  • Quad biking across the rocky desert.

  • Relaxing at a luxury desert camp.

  • Swimming with mountain views.

  • Watching the sunset.

  • Enjoying a traditional Moroccan dinner with live entertainment.

You can book a full-day experience or an afternoon-to-evening excursion.

Day 4 – Atlas Mountains and Berber villages

Escape the city and discover a completely different side of Morocco.

Visit the Atlas Mountains and explore:

  • Ourika Valley – beautiful scenery, rivers and waterfalls.

  • Imlil – a traditional mountain village with incredible views.

  • Visit a Berber village and learn about local traditions.

  • Enjoy a traditional lunch with mountain views.

  • Take photographs of the beautiful landscapes.

You can book an organised excursion from Marrakech, usually including transport and a local guide.

Day 5 – Relax, shop and enjoy your last day

Make your final day a little more relaxed.

Things to do:

  • Visit Le Jardin Secret.

  • Enjoy a traditional Moroccan breakfast.

  • Shop for souvenirs, spices, leather goods and handmade ceramics.

  • Book a final hammam or massage.

  • Enjoy lunch at a beautiful Moroccan restaurant.

If your flight is later in the day, you could also spend some time relaxing by a hotel swimming pool.
